Masterwork Hand-Engraved Brass Clever Crow & Water Displacement Vessel Ensemble
Monumental 6.5 kg brass sculptural narrative ensemble illustrating Archimedean displacement with micro-chased epic friezes
Monumental innovated sculptural masterwork in brass and dark patinated alloy depicting the celebrated Panchatantra & Aesopian parable of 'The Clever Crow' dropping stones into a pitcher to raise the water level—a timeless lesson demonstrating the fundamental physics principle of water displacement. The sculptural ensemble comprises a heavy solid brass water kalash/pitcher (approx. 4 kg) and a lifelike life-sized crow sculpture (approx. 2.5 kg) perched inquisitively upon the lip with a pebble clasped in its beak. Both elements are extensively embellished with intricate micro hand-engravings against a darkened background: depicting royal hunting expeditions (shikar), an elaborate wedding procession (barat) with palanquins and musicians, pastoral village life, and Lord Krishna riding upon a celestial chariot (Biman). Weighs approximately 6.5 kg in total. An uncommon, breathtaking collector's masterpiece merging physics education, folk lore, and fine Indian metalcraft.
