Double-Century-Old Scalloped Wavy-Lobed Brass Kerosene Lamp (Dibi)
Double-century-old rare folk brass oil lamp with octagonal wavy-lobed reservoir, raised circular shoulder, vertical burner spout, and finger loop (Diameter 4 inches / 10 cm)
Double-century-old (~200 years, circa early 19th century) precious, authentic, and exceedingly rare traditional brass kerosene and oil lamp, known in Odisha folk craft as "Dibi" (or Dibia / Padmapatra Deepa). Skillfully sand-cast in heavy solid brass with an iconic undulating wavy/scalloped petal reservoir contour featuring eight rounded lobes reminiscent of an unfurling water-lily or melon. The upper surface rises in a concentric stepped dome toward a heavy cylindrical burner collar supporting an upright tubular wick aperture nozzle. Fitted with an integral curved loop handle brazed to the wavy shoulder for convenient single-finger carrying. Sits firmly upon a flat, recessed circular resting base. Retains its authentic ancient olive-bronze aged patina, surface oxidation, and historical casting marks accumulated over two centuries of ancestral domestic illumination. Diameter: 4 inches (10 cm). An exceedingly uncommon and extinct utilitarian folk antiquity.
