150-Year-Old Intricately Engraved Brass Tribal Anklets (Pair - Chita Painri)

Intricately engraved 150-year-old lightweight hollow-cast brass tribal anklet pair with all-over diamond stippling and chevron friezes, worn in community celebrations (Weight 380 grams)
Remarkable 150-year-old authentic matched pair of finely engraved tribal brass anklets (known regionally as Chita Painri, Chita Pahuda, or Banki), hand-crafted circa mid-19th century in the tribal heartlands of Odisha and Eastern India. Exhibiting an elegant and agile lightweight hollow construction, this exquisite pair is engineered specifically for bridal ritual and rhythmic folk dancing without encumbering leg movement. The anklets present an ergonomic oval silhouette culminating in peaked triangular terminal crests at both ends, accompanied by articulated lateral knuckle collars. Every visible surface is thoroughly and densely embellished with master-level tribal metal engraving: micro-punched stippling, raised granulated bead points, transverse parallel hatched friezes, and chevron borders that closely mirror traditional sacred tribal body tattoo motifs (Godna / Chita). Bestowed historically upon brides as treasured dowry heirlooms and worn by young women during ceremonial festivals, this distinctive hollow-engraved design represents an extinct and dying ethnographic metalcraft tradition with virtually no surviving active practitioners today. Preserved in pristine museum-grade condition with rich, natural dark olive-bronze patination and authentic historic surface wear.
